Way back in April I bought an old Post Office Clerks desk (1960s) from Sydney on eBay. Mum helped me sand it back and I painted it using the left-over paints I had from painting the girls’ desks. I really love it.

I also picked up the chair (in the ‘after’ shot) for $20 as it was slightly damaged – bargain I say!

It was very rough, but full of potential

The photo from eBay – I could see how great it was going to look from this shot

Ahh, pretty – see the chair too 🙂

Just because I can, I have taken some pretty shots of the kitchen/dining room.

This week we have our showerscreens and mirrors fitted. There was a few thing I wish I had done differently, but I made the best decisions at the time with the information I had, so I’m not going to dwell on things I now can’t change. I have however, though of a few ways to fix or enhance the things I don’t like – so stay tuned these changes will happen over time 🙂

The bathrooms to me are looking so stark and white, so I think I will need to add some colour… hmmm, now the fun begins 🙂

We have still so much to do on the exterior of the house, but for now I have hung a few little things that make it our place. The verandahs are looking clean (still need to be oiled) and the doors are all painted (but still have no architraves). Anyway, here is an update:

The front door with a few bits and pieces hung up.

Our makeshift letterbox. My mum bought me a great new one, but it’s one that needs to be put in a brick surround, so for now Corey made this cut little one 🙂

Many years ago, our good friends the Wilsons gave us a dining table and chairs, these have been great and we are now onto the 3rd lot of seat covers.

I picked up the fabric for only $14, and I think they look great 🙂

New fabric

Looks so much better – no more food stains 🙂

We found out last week that the gas was not going to be connected… for a loooooooong time 😦

Turns out that when we thought they said 14 working days, the Indian guy (whose words got lost in translation) on the phone actually said 40 working days! Yep, that means we have another 6 weeks to wait. The house is so ready to move into except fo the the gas – which means no hot water.

So, thanks to our plumbers who failed to mention that it tales 10 weeks to connect the gas, we will be waiting, and wiating, and waiting…. nope, not happy Jan!

Anyway in the last week I have calmed down a bit. Still disappointed, but calmer.

We are taking this time to keep going with painting and other jobs that need to be done around the house.

God is trying to teach me patience… not sure if I am learning very well.

In the meantime, here are some more pics 🙂

Corey has had a bit of time (waiting for the gas to be connected) to clean out the garage – AKA ‘The Man Cave’ Here are the latest pics – you’ll notice a bar fridge and lounge… which will face a tv soon 🙂

The spot to be 😉

We have had to cut right back on spending for our blinds (since we got hit with a $2000 clutch that needed replacing in the car) So here is our temporary blind solution. We have $2 paper blinds on some of the windows and cheap aluminium venetians on our doors for privacy. The good thing is that these can always be replaced later when we have saved up some more money.

Cheap roller blind (that was supposed to be for our french doors, but didn’t fit) works well here in the laundry

Looking very close to finished now – so very exciting for us.
